Spring Break In Miami, Florida
Contributed by Lavinia D’Souza of Continent Hop

Spring is one of the best times to experience Miami because everything happens outdoors. The weather usually sits in the mid-70s to mid-80s °F (mid-20s to low-30s °C), which means beach days are comfortable without the heavy summer humidity.
You can start your day exploring Little Havana, walking along Calle Ocho where you’ll see Cuban cafés, street music, local shops, and strong Latin culture. From there, you can head to Wynwood, one of the most colorful areas in the city, where street murals and art installations cover entire buildings. It’s perfect for slow exploring, photos, and casual food stops. Later in the day, you can switch back to beach mode at places like Key Biscayne or South Beach.
What makes Miami special is how you can shape the trip around what you want. If you’re traveling as a couple, you’ll find it surprisingly romantic, sunset at South Pointe Park, ocean-view dinners, and late-night walks along the beach feel effortless. With friends, you can move from beach days straight into rooftop bars, live music spots, and nightlife that runs late without feeling rushed. If you’re traveling with family, you can mix beach time with boat tours around Biscayne Bay, shopping and food at Bayside Marketplace, or even a day trip toward the Everglades to see wildlife and experience airboat rides.
Spring in Miami offers beach time, culture, and outdoor city life in one trip, which is why it stands out as a spring break destination.
Where to stay in Miami: The Loews Miami Beach Hotel is a great choice because it is both beachfront and centrally located. You can walk straight onto the beach, reach restaurants and shop easily, and still have resort-style pool space to relax during busy spring break days.
Spring Break In Key West, Florida
Contributed by Amanda of Amanda Therese Travel

Key West is one of my favorite U.S. destinations for a spring break that feels equal parts relaxing and exciting. The weather is perfect. Think sunny skies, temperatures in the 70s and 80s and just enough breeze to make being outside all day comfortable. It’s warm enough for boating and exploring without the summer heat and humidity.
The entire island feels relaxed and easy in a way that makes you settle into vacation mode.
What makes Key West so memorable in the spring is the balance it offers. You can snorkel in crystal-clear water in the morning, explore the colorful streets lined with historic conch houses in the afternoon, and then dress up a little for sunset cocktails overlooking the water. It’s romantic for couples, but also works beautifully for friend groups or families who want a mix of adventure and downtime.
My favorite evening activity we did was a sunset cruise with live music. There is something magical about ending the day on the water, watching the sun melt into the horizon.
Where to stay in Key West: Hyatt Centric Key West Resort & Spa is located right in the heart of Old Town, making it easy to walk to restaurants and explore Duval Street without feeling overwhelmed by the busier areas. The pool overlooks the water, making it the perfect place to spend your afternoons.
Spring Break In Maui, Hawaii
Contributed by Kay of The Awkward Traveler

Maui is always a popular destination, but visiting for spring break is a hidden treat that many travelers overlook. Spring offers a lot of unique experiences, such as whale watching before the humpbacks return to the North Pacific for the approaching summer. Spring in Maui also offers pleasant weather with generally clear skies and warmer ocean water, perfect if you’re looking to try out surfing in a calm and comfortable environment.
Maui doesn’t have to be a honeymooner-only destination (though, it is great for that) that feels completely out-of-reach either. You can have a fantastic, and more affordable, Maui trip by supporting Native Hawaiian businesses in Maui.
There are a range of festivals that light up various towns around the island, like the East Maui Taro Festival that celebrates the Hawaiian staple taro (or kalo in Hawaiian) and the Celebration of the Arts, which is a festival that invites visitors to learn about Hawaiian culture with hands-on workshops.

Seeing Maui from an Indigenous lens gives you the unique opportunity to understand the beautiful Hawaiian Islands from a holistic perspective and ensures that while you are having an amazing trip, you are also contributing to the local community.
Where to stay in Maui: The Maui Seaside Hotel is a Hawaiian-owned hotel that is more affordable than the average resort on the island. Enjoy panoramic views of Kahului Bay and discover the spirit of aloha! Airport shuttle service is included with your stay.
Spring Break Desert Destinations

Spring Break in Carlsbad Caverns
Contributed by McKenna of One More Step Travels

Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico is a great place to visit for any adventurous traveler, including families and college students on break looking for an epic National Park to explore.
The cave stays cool year-round and the surrounding desert blooms in beauty during the springtime. April is always when the bats return to Carlsbad Caverns and their impressive nightly flight can be witnessed near the mouth of the cave. Imagine seeing hundreds of thousands of bats leave the cave each evening and return at dawn!
When visiting Carlsbad Caverns, you will need to reserve a spot (try to do this as far in advance as you can for spring break), and come equipped with a light jacket, water, and an optional flashlight. Kids especially find it amusing to shine their flashlights in the furthest corners of the cave and see what lurks above and below.
All cave tours start at the visitor center and you enter based on your reserved time. You can opt to either ride the elevator down or walk a steep hike down into the cave. The hike offers impressive views of the cave mouth and the descent that you won’t get otherwise. You can always take the elevator back up if you don’t want to trek back up!
Carlsbad Caverns is best explored as an add-on to a road trip and is near several other National Parks. Check out these tips for road tripping across America when planning your spring break vacation. When road tripping, it pays to stay close to your destinations to reduce driving time each day.
Carlsbad Caverns is such a neat National Park to visit and really exceeded my expectations, from the giant mouth of the cave to the deepness of the pits and the unique and beautiful cave features. It is a place you will remember and be talking about for years to come!
Where to stay near Carlsbad Caverns: Whites City Cavern Inn is a simple motel offering clean rooms, great scenery, and a complimentary breakfast of muffins and cereal.
Spring Break In Joshua Tree National Park, California
Contributed by Matt of Matt’s Next Steps

Spring in Joshua Tree National Park feels like the sweet spot where the desert is still alive and welcoming before the intense summer heat rolls in! During this time, the weather is normally warm throughout the day, but cool in the mornings and evenings – ideal for hiking, climbing and generally exploring. And, if you’re lucky, wildflowers sometimes start to bloom, adding unexpected pops of yellow and purple across the rocky landscape.
NOTE: When I visited in mid-March, I experienced every form of weather from sun to snow which was super surreal!
What I love most about this destination for Spring Break is that it’s not about parties or packed beaches. It’s about slowing down, switching off, and reconnecting with nature. Even though you’re not far from LA, you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere with the stars above you (JT is home to some of the darkest skies in the whole of the US)!
Aside from stargazing, you can spend your days scrambling over boulders or driving scenic desert roads, before watching one of the national park’s unreal sunsets. Joshua Tree is especially great for couples looking for something different and romantic – think quiet picnic spots, golden hour walks, and cozy desert cabins. But it also works for families or anyone wanting to reconnect with nature.
Overall, spring in Joshua Tree brings a solid balance of adventure and calm, where you leave feeling genuinely recharged rather than needing another holiday to recover. Or you could very easily fit it into any roadtrip across the Southwest or California.
Where to stay in Joshua Tre : Pioneertown Motel is perfect for travelers in search of a wild-west experience. The motel is located close to Pappy & Harriet’s, famous for its live music and BBQ , and about a 25 minute drive from Joshua tree National Park.
Spring Break In Snow Canyon State Park, Utah
Contributed by Linda of On To New Adventures

Thinking about visiting Utah’s “Might Five” national Parks for spring break? Set aside a few hours for one of southern Utah’s most striking under-the-radar stops: Snow Canyon State Park.
We almost skipped it ourselves after several days exploring Zion and Bryce Canyon National Park—but an early evening visit turned into one of the highlights of our trip. Just outside St. George, Snow Canyon delivers the same dramatic red rock scenery that draws visitors to Utah’s famous national parks, yet with far fewer crowds and a far more relaxed pace.
Spring is an especially great time to visit, when daytime temperatures are ideal for hiking and biking before the intense desert heat settles in for summer. Towering Navajo sandstone cliffs, ancient lava flows, and rolling petrified dunes create a landscape that feels almost surreal—yet many of the park’s best features can be explored on short, family-friendly trails.
A stop at the Snow Canyon Scenic Overlook rewards visitors with panoramic views—especially at sunset, when the rocks glow in warm shades of orange and gold. Easy hikes like Jenny’s Canyon and the Petrified Dunes offer sweeping canyon views and the chance to wander across wave-like sandstone formations in less than a couple of hours.

For the more adventurous, Snow Canyon has longer hikes and six distinct areas for rock climbing. E-Bike riding is another fun option for exploring the park.
Conveniently located less than an hour from Zion, Snow Canyon State Park makes a peaceful spring break alternative—or the perfect add-on for travelers looking to experience Utah’s red rock beauty without the national park crowds.
Where to stay in Snow Canyon: Ramada by Wyndham St George. Guest can enjoy the outdoor pool, hot tub and daily continental breakfast. There are plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance.
Spring Break Ski Resort Destinations

Spring Break In Big Sky, Montana
Contributed by Amanda of Restless Pursuits

The upscale western town of Big Sky, Montana, is tucked into the Madison mountain range, between Yellowstone National Park and Bozeman. This small town is unlike any other, where you will find world class restaurants, one of the biggest ski resorts in the lower 48 states and even the possibility of a celebrity sighting.
Spring is a wonderful time to visit Big Sky. The mountain sits at 7500 feet and usually gets heavy snow through March, but also plenty of sunshine.
Big Sky is not for the budget traveler. However, in my opinion, it is worth the high prices.
Big Sky Ski Resort is one of the best mountains I’ve ever been on. It’s stunning with the solitary Lone Peak at its center and upgraded amenities, like heated chairlifts!
You will find a wide variety of terrain. If you are an adrenaline junkie, take the tram to the top of Lone Peak, where you will find steep slopes only suitable for advanced skiers. For those visiting with families, there are so many beginner and intermediate routes that you will stay busy exploring new trails every day of the week.
To get away from the busy crowds in Mountain Village, go where the locals go. Madison Base is on the Moonlight Basin side of Big Sky and has some amazing runs that aren’t packed with visitors. There is also a great area for beginners and a ski school.
We lived in Bozeman and skied Big Sky for years. We especially love how large it is. Even on busy ski days, we were able to find a nearly empty run.
The town of Big Sky is divided into three areas; The Canyon, Meadow Village, Town Center, and The Mountain. Stay in either the Town Center, where you will find the majority of the restaurants and shops, or on The Mountain, where you will be close to the lifts.
At least one day, take a day trip to Bozeman, Montana. This lively college town is filled with incredible breweries, amazing restaurants and a very cute downtown.
Where to stay in Big Sky: Gravity Haus Big Sky is located in the big Sky Town Center area, with a large variety of restaurants to choose from and about a 15 minute drive to the ski hill.
Spring Break In Winter Park, Colorado
Contributed by Sonia of Carey On Travels

If you’re looking for one of the best spring break vacations in the U.S. for families, a Winter Park ski vacation should be high on your list. We’ve been skiing at Winter Park Resort for over 20 years. Its relaxed, low-key vibe, combined with truly outstanding terrain and non-ski activities, keeps us coming back.
Unlike some larger Colorado resorts, Winter Park feels approachable and welcoming, perfect for families with varied ability levels and interests. The ski mountains, Winter Park and Mary Jane, offer an impressive variety of runs for skiers and snowboarders alike, from easy, beginner trails to challenging expert runs and terrain parks. Enjoy ice skating and tubing right at the base of the ski area.
Beyond the ski slopes, the surrounding Fraser Valley is packed with winter fun. Try tubing hills, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and nearby hot springs for relaxing after a day outside. You’re also within easy reach of the charming town of Grand Lake, one of the gateways to Rocky Mountain National Park. Ice skate, ice fish, and snowmobile on Grand Lake or take scenic drives and snowshoe trails in the park.

Spring in Colorado brings longer daylight hours, sunny days with average high temperatures around 40 degrees, bright blue skies, and typically great snow.
Winter Park, Colorado, blends active adventures with convenience to Denver, making it one of the top spring break destinations worth exploring. Take the Winter Park Express train from Denver to avoid I-70 traffic and enjoy a stress-free getaway.
Where to stay in Winter Park: Winter Park Chalet is a charming guest house with easy access to downtown restaurants and the ski bus.
Spring Break High-Energy Vacations
For a high energy adventure, these destinations deliver!
Spring Break In Disneyland, California
Contributed by Lisa of Magic and Coasters

One of the top West Coast spots for spring break fun is Disneyland Resort, and for good reason. With two incredible parks packed into one walkable destination, it’s an easy choice for families for nonstop excitement.
The resort includes Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. To truly experience both parks without feeling rushed, plan on spending at least two days. Be sure to secure both your park tickets and required reservations in advance.
Spring break is a busy season, so strategy matters. Purchasing Lightning Lane access can significantly cut down wait times. Arriving before the official opening (known as “rope drop”) is another smart move. It gives you a head start on the most in-demand attractions before crowds build.
If you’re starting your day at California Adventure, make a beeline for Radiator Springs Racers or Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! – both of which draw long lines quickly.
Over at Disneyland Park, thrill-seekers won’t want to miss Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Galaxy’s Edge. Riding it first thing in the morning is the way to go. Families with younger kids may prefer heading straight to Peter Pan’s Flight, another ride known for consistently long waits.
Beyond the attractions, Disneyland delivers immersive entertainment throughout the day, from character meet-and-greets to parades, stage productions, and nighttime fireworks.
California Adventure also shines when it comes to food. Treat yourself to something sweet at Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop or grab a famous sourdough bowl from Boudin Bakery.
With thrilling rides, immersive lands, unforgettable entertainment, and accommodations for every budget, Disneyland makes for an exciting and memorable spring break getaway.
Where to stay in Disneyland: Courtyard by Marriott Anaheim Theme Park Entrance is a family-friendly hotel directly across from Disneyland’s entrance and features its own water playground.
Spring Break In Las Vegas, Nevada
Contributed by Nofar of Traveling Outside The Box

Spring break in the U.S. doesn’t have to mean beaches and college crowds. One of my most memorable vacations was actually in Las Vegas. The spring weather is warm and sunny but still comfortable for walking between hotels and attractions, which makes it a great time to explore the city beyond the casinos.
What makes Las Vegas especially good in spring is the combination of shows, food, themed hotels, and attractions, all within walking distance. Simply walking between the hotels is an attraction in itself. Each hotel feels like a different world. We watched the Bellagio fountains, went up to the Eiffel Tower viewing deck at Paris Hotel, and explored attractions along the Strip. One of the highlights of our visit was the Cirque du Soleil Michael Jackson ONE show at Mandalay Bay.
Food-wise, the city offers a wide range of options. We especially enjoyed Yusho at Monte Carlo, which specializes in ramen and is filling, tasty, and reasonably priced. For a special meat dinner we went to CUT at The Palazzo, a high-end steakhouse with excellent service and an outstanding wagyu steak. For something more casual, we liked Five50 Pizza at ARIA, which serves thin pizza with lots of cheese and creative toppings, and Gordon Ramsay’s excellent burger restaurant. Travelers on a budget can also find plenty of fast-food courts inside the large hotels.
Las Vegas can work well for both couples and families, depending on the activities you choose. There are pools, arcades, observation points, indoor attractions, and a wide range of dining options, from fine dining to quick bites.

Where to stay in Las Vegas: ARIA Resort & Casino has a central location, modern rooms, pool complex, and easy access to other hotels.

No trip to New Orleans is complete without some time spent in the French Quarter. The French Quarter is without a doubt the beating heart of the city. There’s no shortage of street performers to appreciate, gorgeous architecture to enjoy, and delicious food to fill up on.

Spring Break In Washington, D.C.
Contributed by Lisa of Planning Away

One of the best places to go in the U.S for spring break is Washington, DC. The city comes alive with blooming cherry blossoms and the mild temperatures make it the perfect time of year to explore without the intense summer heat.
Getting to DC is easy. There are three major airports to choose from: Reagan National (DCA), Dulles International (IAD), and Baltimore/Washington International (BWI). Compare prices and pick the best deal for your trip.
Spring break is one of the most beautiful times to visit. Late March through early April brings the famous cherry blossoms around the Tidal Basin, creating picture-perfect views near the monuments. The comfortable weather makes walking the National Mall especially enjoyable.
One of the best things to do in Washington, DC is visit the Smithsonian museums. They are completely free. There are 20 museums and galleries, including favorites like the National Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of Natural History, the National Museum of American History, and even the National Zoo. You could easily spend days exploring.
Another must-do is visiting the iconic monuments and memorials. The Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and Jefferson Memorial are all located along the National Mall. Seeing the monuments lit up at night during spring is especially memorable.

After a full day of sightseeing, head to Georgetown for shopping and dinner along the waterfront. Stop by DC’s famous Georgetown Cupcake or Levain Bakery for a sweet treat.

Spring Break In Savannah, Georgia
Contributed by Mayuri of Fernwehrahee

Savannah is one of the oldest cities in Georgia, known for its architecture, history, beaches, and southern cuisines. It has played a prominent role in African American history and the Civil War. If you’re a history and architecture lover, Savannah is one of the best places to visit in the USA in Spring.
Savannah is built around its historic 22 squares adorned with beautiful gardens and statues. The city has beautifully lined Oak tree roads with well-preserved architecture in its old district, with cobblestone streets and Antebellum homes.
During Spring, temperatures remain mild. (70-85°F) Squares and parks along its streets begin flowering in March and April. This makes the city even more beautiful!
A few of the best things to do in Savannah include visiting the famous landmarks of the city like Forsyth Park, stunning E Jones Street for its beautiful architecture, Mercer Williams house, and the Beautiful architecture of the cathedral of St John Baptist. Learn about slavery and African history at Owens Thomas house, and stroll the historic river district which was once connected with the cotton trade.
Savannah has a very dark history of slavery; it is recommended to at least one plantation to learn the history lessons! Visit the Wormsloe State Historic Site with moss-draped oak trees, historic tabby ruins, and beautiful coastal views.
During the night, take a Ghost tour of Savannah to learn about the Spooky past of Savannah!
Spring is the perfect time to hit the beaches! And just 20 minutes away, you can visit Tybee Island. It has beautiful sandy beaches, a lighthouse and you can even take a dolphin cruise.
Savannah is also known for its festivals throughout the year. During spring, take part in St. Patrick’s Day Parade, one of the largest in the USA! Also, don’t miss Savannah Music festival, which brings nearly 500 artists from all over the globe to Savannah at the end of March and early April.
Do not leave Savannah without having Ice cream at Leopold’s. Who doesn’t love ice cream? Plus it’s one of the top 10 ice cream Parlors in the world!

Spring Break at a Slower Pace
For escaping the crowds and a spring break without the chaos:
Spring Break On Anna Maria Island, Florida
Contributed by Alice of Panoramic Pathways

Anna Maria Island has been my quiet spring escape for more than three decades, and somehow it still feels like a secret. It’s not a place chasing trends or trying to compete with louder spring break destinations — instead, it quietly rewards travelers who value simple beach days, slower rhythms, and time spent together.
Located just south of Tampa and St. Petersburg, this small barrier island offers a version of Florida that’s increasingly hard to find — no high-rises, no mega-resorts, and a pace that gently encourages you to exhale. It’s also a real, lived-in community, with year-round residents alongside vacation homes, which gives the island an authentic, everyday feel.
Spring brings warm, comfortable beach weather and Gulf waters inviting enough for long swims, making it ideal for true beach days without the chaos found elsewhere. Days unfold simply: walking sugar-white sand, collecting shells at low tide, reading with the sound of waves in the background, and watching pelicans glide overhead while gulls call along the shoreline. You’ll see people casting fishing lines right from the beach, others lingering in the shallows, and families moving in and out of turquoise water as the light slowly changes.
As evening approaches, everyone makes their way to the shoreline — some still sandy, others already dressed for dinner — gathering for sunset as soft gold and pink light shimmers on the water.
What makes Anna Maria Island especially memorable for me is how deeply it’s woven into different seasons of my life. I first came here when we had very little, staying in mom-and-pop motels and eating fresh Gulf seafood with our toes in the sand. Later, we brought our children, who grew up body-surfing small waves and falling asleep sun-tired and sandy.
Today, it’s a place my husband and I return to when we want to reconnect and unplug. Once you arrive, you rarely need to get back in your car — the free island trolley and walkable layout make it easy to move between beaches, shops, and casual restaurants at an unhurried pace.
Anna Maria Island works beautifully as a romantic getaway for couples, a relaxed and safe-feeling family vacation, or simply a chance to reconnect with nature, loved ones, and yourself in the kind of place where the loudest sound is often the surf. A place that begins to feel like home.
Where to Stay on Anna Maria Island: Bungalow Beach Resort is a well-regarded beachfront property on Anna Maria Island offering direct beach access, a relaxed atmosphere, and a classic island feel that perfectly matches the destination.
Spring Break at Silver Springs State Park
Contributed by Wendy of Travel The Parks

I know Florida always seems to be tied to theme parks when it comes to choosing a spring break getaway. But the Sunshine State really has so much more that you can do. Why not pick our state parks with freshwater springs for spring break fun?
Ichetucknee Springs rocks for tubing the river. Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife boasts the Fishbowl for cool underwater views, while Blue Springs, during cooler weather, pulls in crowds of manatees. Florida Caverns is truly distinctive, having the only cave in the state. We loved every one of these state parks.
For us, though, Silver Springs State Park has always been an unforgettable spring break haven. We always stay at the campground. Sites here are highly sought after, so reserve early. They all feel secluded and are within easy access to miles of hiking trails.
One of the best things to do at the Springhead is a nostalgic glass-bottom boat tour. A must-do 90-minute tour accesses the spring run. These boats hail from days gone by, but they never grow old for us. On the last trip, we shook things up by grabbing a see-through kayak for two. Spotting manatees in the river was the highlight. Turtles, gators, and water birds got super close for awesome photos.

We’ve spent hours riding our ebikes here. We prefer the 1.5-mile River Trail. It’s good for spotting wild monkeys.
If you arrive with kids at the weekend, I suggest the Silver River Museum. It has a pioneer “cracker” village and a replica Seminole Indian camp. You’ll see a woolly mammoth skeleton and ancient treasures in the museum.
Make your next spring break special. Visit a Florida freshwater spring.
Where to stay near Silver Springs: Holiday Inn Express Silver Springs is located at the entrance to Silver Springs.
Spring Break In Traverse City, Michigan
Contributed by Linda of On To New Adventures

It’s true: many northern Michigan locals head south for spring break, chasing sunshine in places like Mexico and Florida. While the beaches and golf courses are still chilly this early in the year, fewer crowds and great off-season pricing make this the perfect time to visit Traverse City.
Front Street is the heart of downtown, lined with specialty shops, galleries, and restaurants. Stop into Cherry Republic for all things cherry—this is the Cherry Capital of the World, after all! Browse M22 for locally inspired gear named for the scenic highway that loops the peninsula. On a gray afternoon, duck into the historic State Theatre for an indie film.
One of the best parts of visiting in spring? Walking into your favorite restaurant without a reservation—or a 90-minute wait. Start your day out right with breakfast at Sisters Coffee & Tea or Red Spire Brunch House inside the Grand Traverse Commons. Book a table at The Boathouse Restaurant for waterfront fine dining, or try Red Ginger for standout Asian fare. Casual local favorites include Sleder’s Family Tavern and Bubba’s, while Don’s Drive-In is perfect for a good old-fashioned burger and chocolate shake.

Set aside a few hours to explore Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, northwest Michigan’s crown jewel. Climb the iconic dune, look for early wildflowers along the Empire Bluffs Trail, and take in sweeping lake views from the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive.
Spring is a great time to visit the wineries for a more intimate experience before the rush of summer crowds. Take a scenic drive out on Old Mission Peninsula, traveling through rolling vineyards and cherry orchards while taking in beautiful views of Grand Traverse Bay. There are eleven amazing wineries to stop at along the way, featuring the cool climate wines this region is famous for.

If the weather isn’t cooperating, splash the day away in the indoor water park at Great Wolf Lodge. Float along the lazy river, get wet in the enormous interactive treehouse, or catch the waves in the wave pool.
Spend a few hours at The Village at Grand Traverse Commons, which began as a state psychiatric hospital in the 19th century. The castle-like buildings have been restored and now are home to upscale restaurants, boutiques, and galleries. Stroll through the Mercato to check out the shops. You’ll find everything from jewelry and art to used books and alpaca products. Then head outside to explore the grounds and botanical garden.

Visiting Traverse City a bit later in the spring? Cherry blossoms are in full bloom in early to mid- May.
Where to stay in Traverse City: The Delamar Traverse City is conveniently located in downtown Traverse City, within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and the waterfront. Spring break guests enjoy the indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, and heated outdoor pool, along with access to the hotel’s gym and drop-in classes at the onsite Yen Yoga and Fitness studio.
Spring Break In Orange Beach, Alabama
Contributed by Vanessa of Traveling Ness

Orange Beach is the perfect spring destination, known for its pristine white-sand beaches and turquoise clear waters where Alabama’s coast meets the Gulf of Mexico. What makes Orange Beach such a standout location is it doesn’t get all the crowds that more famous beach cities get. You have the best combo for a beach vacation: warm temperatures (averaging in the low to mid 70s), warm water, tons of outdoor activities, and an abundance of gorgeous scenery.
Although you can find a little bit of everything when it comes to food, seafood really is the start here. For some of the best in seafood options, make a point to dine at Doc’s Seafood or GTs On The Bay. One of the top spots to enjoy a drink with a view is the coolest beach bar & restaurant, The Gulf, where you can dip your toes in the sand as you watch the sunset.
Ideal for couples, families, or a girls’ weekend, Orange Beach offers plenty to do beyond spending a day at the beach. Take a dolphin cruise or sunset catamaran tour, ride bikes, go shelling or kayaking, try your hand at fishing, or explore nearby Fort Morgan if you enjoy history.
Where to stay in Orange Beach: Hampton Inn & Suites Orange Beach is conveniently located close to spacious sandy beaches, eateries, and beach bars. Want to wake up to ocean views? Make sure to reserve a room with a balcony.

Emerald green cliffs that just melt into the wild blue Pacific Ocean await you in Big Sur, California, when you visit in the spring.
Located along the central California Coast, Big Sur is a life-changing destination that is even better visited during the spring months. The central California coast (where Big Sur is located) experiences its rainy season during the winter months, resulting in an explosion of green grass and colorful floral blooms come spring. You won’t miss it, the whole area comes alive and you’ll be surrounded by natural beauty.
Not only are the views stunning at this time of year, but you’ll also experience smaller crowds than what you’d expect during the ever popular summer months. The weather is fairly mild year-round, but you’ll still want to dress in layers and pack a sweater or two.
While there’s plenty of hiking if you’re so inclined, you can also experience the beauty of Big Sur straight from your car, making it an accessible trip for families, and perfect for nature lovers.
One of the best drives in California is the trip from Carmel to Big Sur along the iconic Highway 1. There’s plenty of pullouts where you can get stunning photos of the coastline, beaches, and bridges that line the area. If you’re looking to splurge, consider staying at Alila Ventana Big Sur, a gorgeous resort that’ll put you right in the middle of Big Sur’s most popular sights. For more budget friendly options consider staying a bit further out in Carmel or Monterey
Where to stay in Big Sur: Alila Ventana Big Sur is a luxury hotel and spa on the California coast.
Spring Break in Santa Fe, New Mexico
Contributed by Eleanor of Elevate Your Escapes

Santa Fe, New Mexico is one of my favorite spring break destinations! It’s a great place for a romantic trip or a solo trip. Nature-loving families can enjoy the sights, too, but the city doesn’t have too many activities focused on entertaining kids.
Spring weather is fantastic for enjoying Santa Fe. Daytime temperatures are typically in the 60s and 70s, and skies are often sunny. It’s warm enough to explore, hike, and enjoy food on outdoor patios, but also cool enough to stay comfortable.
What makes Santa Fe such a standout spring destination is the way it blends culture and nature. You can spend the morning wandering through art galleries along Canyon Road, the afternoon hiking (or walking) among Bandelier National Monument trails, and then the evening tasting authentic New Mexican cuisine under glowing string lights, like at La Fonda on the Plaza.
You can also combine Santa Fe with a New Mexico road trip starting in El Paso, TX, visiting White Sands National Park, continuing on through Roswell, stopping in Santa Fe, and ending in Albuquerque – or vice versa! It makes for a magical trip.
Where to stay in Santa Fe: Eldorado Hotel and Spa is an elegant four-star hotel right in the center of town. The property features gorgeous rooftop infinity pool with a fantastic spa.
The Wrap-Up
If your ideal spring break includes hiking desert trails, stretching out on the sand, touring a big city, or squeezing in one last ski trip, there’s a destination in the U.S. to match your travel style. With so many ways to welcome the season, spring is the perfect time to try somewhere new— or even return to a tried-and-true favorite!
